Welcome to Keypsake Arabians

Sun Feb 22, 2009, 11:44 AM

~~WELCOME TO KEYPSAKE ARABIANS~~

You drive down a long dirt road in California, almond orchards on the left, peach on the right. after a quarter mile, when you're just about to turn around because you think you took the wrong turn, the orchard trees give way to a relatively unamazing, large, horse ranch.
A full-sized racetrack is the first thing you pass, with three Arabian colts being worked on it. their flagging tails and glossy coats irridescent in the late morning winter sun. in the infield a single trainer stands, leaning against the weeping willow in the center and watching the colts under a calculating scowl.
You keep driving until you reach a fork in the road, in the center of which is a sign pointing in either direction. the part pointing to the right reads, in blocky, chipped, letters "The Abode". the one pointing to the left reads "The Stables". you take the path to the left, driving down 50 yards until the willows and sycamores open up to three barns, four arenas of varying sizes, and two jumping coarses.
The barns were generally shaped like an 'A', with one barn facing horizontally and the other two facing vertically from either end of the first (well, that's what it would look like if one were to be above the ranch). the center barn housed the show and racing horses, which varied from Arabians, to Saddlebreds, to Thoroughbreds. in the barn on the right housed the stallions, a great many of them, which was why it was the largest of the three. the occaisional bellow of the most agressive stallion, KA Salahudihn, could be heard. the barn on the left housed the broodmares and newborn foals, thus having spacy, cushion-walled, stalls.
between the three barns was a sand-filled arena, used for working horses and training the green ones, since it provided a soft cushion to fall on, a fact that the riders appreciated.
in a general semi circle around the left of the barns were a score of other stalls and pens, where the riding horses, leasing mares, and the overflow from the other barns were kept.
outside even these were the other three arenas, which varied in size and were either of a rich soil or sand.
attatched to the side of the mare/foaling barn was a wash rack, grooming wall, breeding wall, and stantion. each of the barns had a bathroom, tack room, and a handful of trainer/groom apartments each.
regardless of the vastness of the place, it was far from "pristine". the ranch had been in the family for years, and with the low-budget, only so many helping hands could be kept. hence why only three of the apartments were filled.
the horses within make up for the ranch's appearance far more than if the barns were made of gold. most of them were either directly imported or close descendents of those that were from the desert ranch that the owner of Keypsake Arabians had close connections with. each stall had a clipboard hanging from the door, stating the stallion/mare etc.'s stats, from name to pedigree to offspring.

Oh, and adding to that, do you still need people to help with the stallion registration?

Hi, I was reading the journal on the front of the HARPG account and it says that you're in charge of a monthly magazine... Is that still going? Or not? Because if it is, I would love to help out if you needed.

Dr Eliza JS: Do you believe it's OK to be a sensitive snake?
Gabriel: Why, yes I rather do. Would you prefer if I was homicidal megalomaniac like my first children?
